The Wrecking Ball Approaches
Demolish E-W

The demolition of the factory buildings in the immediate rear of the Clinton Engines headquarters building (that building is just off the right of this image) was about complete when negotiations between the Historical Society and the City of Maquoketa began. As soon as the City saw that the Society was serious and had the money to preserve the building, the demolition company was instructed to leave the building standing. It was an 11th hour, 59th minute reprieve for the “Once Proud Lady.”
